The death toll from the attack on a village in central Nigeria has risen to 162 people

The An attack launched by gunmen on a village in west-central Nigeriato 162 dead, according to an official in Red Cross Agence France-Presse on Wednesday, making it one of the deadliest attacks in the country in recent months.

Babaumo Ayodeji, secretary of the Red Cross branch in Kwara State, said, "The death toll has now reportedly reached 162, with the search continuing for more bodies".

Earlier today, a death toll of 67 was reported.
