Washington inaugurates "Mineral diplomacy" With 11 agreements and financing exceeding $30 billion

New York, February 5, WAM / The United States of America announced the signing of 11 new cooperation frameworks and memorandums of understanding with partner countries, in conjunction with the launch of the “Forum for Geostrategic Resource Engagement” (FORGE) to coordinate international policies, at the conclusion of the “2026 Ministerial Meeting on Critical Minerals” hosted by the US State Department in Washington, with the aim of reshaping the global market and securing supply chains for advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics.
A statement distributed by the US administration on Thursday revealed the allocation of a huge US funding and investment package exceeding $30 billion during the past six months, allocated to support mining, refining and manufacturing projects inside and outside the United States, in a step aimed at diversifying sources of supply, building secure logistical networks, and ending the dominance of limited markets that made the sector vulnerable to politicization and unrest.
The statement described these moves as the beginning of a new phase of “economic diplomacy,” as the meeting witnessed discussing mechanisms for strengthening partnership with the private sector through specific initiatives to ensure the flexibility and stability of the metals market from source to downstream, and to meet the requirements of the changing global economy.
