Sharjah Airport includes "SpiceJet" To the airline network and enhance air connectivity with India

Sharjah, 6 February / WAM / Sharjah International Airport Authority announced the launch of a new scheduled air service by the Indian airline “SpiceJet” linking Ahmedabad Airport and Sharjah Airport in a step that reflects the airport’s continuous efforts to expand its network of international destinations and deepen air transport links between the UAE and India, in a way that supports business travel, tourism and family visits between the two countries.

According to the announced schedule, flights began as of yesterday at a rate of five flights per week and will be operated by Boeing 737 aircraft. It is expected that this new route will contribute to meeting the growing demand for travel and provide more flexible and comfortable options for travelers between the two destinations.

The inclusion of Ahmedabad in Sharjah Airport’s network of destinations comes within the framework of the airport’s strategy aimed at expanding its international presence and attracting more air carriers, especially from high-growth markets such as the Indian market, which is one of the most prominent markets for passengers departing and arriving at the airport.

His Excellency Ali Salem Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah International Airport Authority, welcomed the launch of the new “SpiceJet” flights from Ahmedabad, pointing out that the addition of this route comes within the Authority’s continuous efforts to improve the passengers’ experience by providing diverse travel options and highly efficient operational services.

He explained that the airport continues to invest in developing its smart facilities and services to ensure the smoothness of procedures and speed of movement within the airport, which enhances the level of travelers’ satisfaction and keeps pace with the increasing growth in their numbers.

He added that the Authority is continuously working to build long-term strategic partnerships with airline companies, which contributes to opening new horizons for cooperation and expanding the network of destinations, and reflects the airport’s vision of consolidating its position as a regional travel center that combines quality services, operating efficiency, and integrated experience for travelers.

The launch of this route comes in the context of the continuous expansion of Sharjah Airport’s network of destinations, as several new destinations have recently been added, such as Krabi, Munich, Prague, Warsaw-Modlin, Vienna, Addis Ababa and Sochi, and direct flights to London are expected to start next March.

During the year 2025, Sharjah Airport succeeded in expanding its network to exceed 100 global destinations with the addition of four new international airlines and the launch of additional services, in addition to major improvements in operational procedures that contributed to accelerating passenger movement and reducing waiting times.

The Sharjah International Airport Authority affirmed its commitment to working closely with its airline partners to continue developing the network and providing a distinguished, smooth and efficient travel experience for all travelers.
