"Dubai roads" It wins the award for the best innovation incubator in the world
DUBAI, 6 FEBRUARY, WAM / The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has achieved a new global achievement that is added to its record of pioneering achievements, after winning first place globally in the “Best Innovation Accelerator” category in the Global Innovation Management Institute (GIMI) Awards for the year 2025, which is given to entities that make a tangible impact in innovation systems around the world.
In detail, Sheikha Ahmed Al Muhairi, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department of the Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector at the Roads and Transport Authority, confirmed that the Authority’s “Innovation Accelerator” program aims to make optimal use of the innovations of emerging companies in the areas of mobility that are compatible with the Authority’s strategy and the state’s directions in this field, by searching for emerging companies, evaluating them, and supporting them to develop and apply their innovative solutions within the Authority and in cooperation with strategic partners, which activates and enhances the role of partnerships between the two sectors. Government and private sector, and raises the Authority’s innovation maturity index, explaining that the program has proven its effectiveness as an integrated operational model in enabling innovation and accelerating the process of adopting advanced technical solutions.
Al Muhairi said that this global award is an affirmation of the integration of the innovation system at the Roads and Transport Authority, as the “ScaleUp Mobility” program, which was launched by the Innovation and Leadership Department of the Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector at the Roads and Transport Authority, contributed to establishing an effective institutional model to enable innovation and link it to operational results. This success also strengthened the role played by the Roads and Transport Authority’s Center for Mobility Research and Innovation (TRIP), as the innovative arm. And the implementation of the program, by providing the supporting infrastructure and transforming the outputs of research and innovation into practical, implementable solutions, ensuring the alignment of innovative initiatives with the future directions of the mobility sector and the Authority’s long-term strategies.
She added that this win is a global confirmation of Dubai’s leadership in government innovation, and a strengthening of our commitment to developing a smart and sustainable transportation system in partnership with emerging companies. The “ScaleUp Mobility” program represents a successful model for linking innovation to actual operational results.
Winning the award was announced during the GIMI Awards ceremony, which was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with wide participation from an elite group of innovation leaders, decision makers, and representatives of government and private institutions from various countries around the world.
