المملكة: Saudi Arabia wins the presidency of the International Institute of Internal Auditors until 2028

During its first meeting of 2026, held in the Republic of South Africa in Cape Town, the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Internal Auditors announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had won the presidency of the Institute’s Board of Directors for the 2027-2028 session, represented by His Excellency the President of the General Auditing Bureau and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Organization for Internal Auditors, Dr. Hossam bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Anqari.
This victory is considered a historic milestone for the profession at the Asian and Arab levels; The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recorded the first presidency of the Institute’s Board of Directors since its founding in 1941 AD, as Dr. Hossam Al-Anqari was the first Asian and Arab to win the presidency of the Council, in a clear embodiment of the professional status achieved by the Kingdom and the confidence of the international community in its professional leadership competencies.
This achievement reflects the Kingdom’s transition to a position of leadership and influence in directing the internal audit profession globally, and its active participation in formulating professional policies and decision-making within the largest international organization specialized in this field.
Al-Anqari stressed that this qualitative victory was not the result of an individual effort, but rather represents the result of continuous institutional work, pointing out that the Saudi Authority for Internal Auditors had a pivotal professional role in developing the national internal audit system, which contributed to its classification among the top ten professional organizations in the world in the field of internal auditing.
He stated that this position enhances the Kingdom’s responsibility in highlighting the development and maturity that the internal audit profession has reached, as well as supporting and highlighting the national competencies that It belongs to the family of practitioners of the internal audit profession in the Kingdom, which contributes to the continuation and growth of the profession’s excellence and enhancing its international sustainability.
On this occasion, the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Internal Auditors congratulated His Excellency on this victory, stressing that the Kingdom’s presidency of the Council represents a qualitative addition to the Institute’s journey, and is in line with the Kingdom’s hosting of the International Conference of Internal Auditors in the city of Riyadh in 2027.
