The UAE national team participates with 60 players in the Fazza International Athletics Championship
Dubai, 9 February / WAM / The organizing committee of the Fazza International Athletics Championship for People of Determination “Grand Prix – Dubai 2026”, which begins tomorrow at the Dubai Club for People of Determination track, announced the participation of 60 male and female players representing the UAE national team in the competitions of the 17th edition of the tournament.
About 500 male and female players representing 56 countries will participate in the tournament, competing in track competitions for distances of 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 and 5000 metres, in addition to the long jump, while field competitions include the shot put, discus, club and javelin, in addition to the high jump.
The Dubai edition is an important milestone in the qualifying tournaments for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games, as the participating teams have increased their readiness to compete.
The UAE national team tested its readiness for the tournament through its recent participation in the West Asian Paralympic Games “Muscat 2026”, in which athletics topped the list of achievements of the country’s champions with a tally of 9 gold, 12 silver and 16 bronze medals.
The team’s players are seeking to achieve qualifying numbers for the Asian Paralympic Games “Japan 2026”, while a number of young players are looking forward to gaining experience through exposure to different schools, which will reflect positively on their career during the next stage.
