المملكة: Memorandum of understanding between "Defense development" and"founder" To promote defense innovation

The General Authority for Defense Development and King Abdulaziz University concluded a memorandum of understanding to enhance research and innovation in defense technologies, and support national capabilities in order to achieve the goals of Vision 2030 to build A sustainable defense sector.

The Authority was represented at the signing ceremony by its Governor, Dr. Faleh Al-Sulaiman, while the university was signed by its Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Amin bin Youssef Numan, to unify efforts between the government and academic sectors.

Developing defense technologies

The new agreement focuses on establishing An integrated cooperation system that aims to develop defense technologies and raise the efficiency of national research capabilities through direct investment in advanced technical infrastructure.

The strategic partnership seeks to direct the compass of scientific and academic research towards the precise areas related to defense systems, ensuring the compatibility of Scientific outputs with the actual needs of the military and security forces.

The scope of cooperation includes specific mechanisms for exchanging advisory expertise and transferring deep technical knowledge between the two sides, to ensure the flow of information and data related to research capabilities and their optimal use.

Joint programs to develop national competencies

The two parties also agreed to activate joint programs to develop specialized national competencies, including organizing scientific seminars and periodic workshops to connect Saudi researchers with the latest global developments in the defense industries.

This move comes as an extension of the Authority’s pivotal role in regulating and empowering the defense research, development and innovation sector, in an effort to enhance the Kingdom’s technical independence and reduce dependence on foreign imports.

This step integrates with the mission of King Abdulaziz University to harness its academic capabilities to prepare qualified national cadres, which contributes to consolidating the Kingdom’s position as a leading force in the fields of advanced technologies.
