New mining exploitation licenses reach a record high of 220% in 2025

The Ministry revealed Industryand mineral wealth reported a record growth in the number of new mining exploitation licenses issued during the year 2025, at a rate of 220% compared to 2024.
This reflects the growth in Miningand small mines issued by the Ministry during the year 2025 amounted to 61 licenses, compared to 19 licenses in the previous year.
He added that the total volume of investments in new license projects exceeds 44 billion riyals, to exploit specific mineral ores including gold and phosphate.
He pointed out that the number of mining exploitation licenses in force in the Kingdom reached 275 licenses until the end of 2025, covering an area 2.16 thousand km2.
Al-Jarrah explained that the Ministry will continue its efforts to enable mining investments and facilitate the journey of local and international investors, in a way that supports the development of the mining sector and maximizes its returns, and achieves the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 for mining to become a third pillar of the national industry, and an important tributary to diversifying the national economy.
It is noteworthy that the Saudi mining sector has achieved an unprecedented qualitative leap in the annual survey report of mining companies for the year 2024 issued by the Canadian Fraser Institute.
Saudi Arabia advanced in the mining investment attractiveness index from 114th place in 2013 to 23rd place globally, an achievement that reflects the effectiveness of the reforms implemented by the Kingdom to enhance the investment environment and regulate the mining sector.
