المملكة: Dealing with sexual assaults includes…the launch of the first Saudi Medical Evaluation Forum

Issues of abuse and sexual assault in Medina, for two days, in the hall of the Academic Affairs and Training Administration at the Ministry of Health branch in Medina, with the participation of an elite group of specialists and interested parties from the health, security, justice and legal authorities, within the framework of enhancing institutional integration and raising the efficiency of the national response to these issues.
At the beginning of his speech, Dr. explained. Faisal Al-Zubaidi, forensic medicine consultant, said that the launch of the forum came in response to an urgent need for a unified national framework that brings together forensic, medical, criminal and social expertise, in a way that enhances integration between them and achieves effective coordination in dealing with sensitive cases.
He added that the Saudi Forensic Medicine Society, within its strategic objectives, is working to develop policies and frameworks regulating forensic medical sciences, noting that the forum aims to raise the quality of medical documentation of reports, and enhance the speed of Specialized scientific sessions; It began with a presentation presented by His Eminence Sheikh Walid Al-Hassan, entitled “From the Report to the Court: The Role of the Security and Legal Authorities in Cases of Sexual Assault and Exploitation,” during which he reviewed the paths of regular dealing with reports, and the role of the concerned authorities in protecting victims. He also addressed the experience of interrogation rooms for children in the Kingdom, and their impact in providing a safe environment for listening that preserves the child’s dignity and takes into account the psychological and legal aspects. This was followed by a scientific paper presented by Dr. Adel Dakhil Allah Al-Ayyadi, in which he addressed the role of protection centers within the national response system to cases of assault and sexual violence, highlighting the mechanisms of intervention and integration between the various sectors to ensure comprehensive protection for those affected. The health system in the national response to these issues, reviewing the paths of medical care, psychological support, and reporting and documentation mechanisms within health facilities.
Dr. Nawaf Al-Juhani, Forensic Medicine Consultant, reviewed advanced dimensions in his lecture entitled “Building the Criminal Narrative: The Protocol for Taking a Medical History in Sexual Assaults,” where he delved into the professional and scientific frameworks that transform the medical statement from mere passing words into a solid forensic document, stressing that accurate documentation It constitutes a safe bridge through which the victim can cross towards regaining his rights. He also explained how medical investigation intersects with the legal balance, considering that the medical history protocol represents a major key to understanding sensitive issues, in a proposal that combined scientific rigor and humanitarian considerations, and established the importance of building an institutional approach that makes truth a fixed goal and dignity an inherent principle.
Forensic cooperation and psychological support
On the other hand, consultant Dr. Kholoud Al-Suwaigh presented a scientific presentation that focused on the multidisciplinary interpretation of sexual assault cases, highlighting the role of collective and integrative work. Between forensic medicine, security agencies, psychological support, and public prosecution. It reviewed the principles of victim-centered care and mechanisms for collecting evidence according to professional frameworks, while emphasizing the importance of avoiding cognitive bias during evaluation. It also highlighted the role of peer review in ensuring the quality of forensic medical outputs and enhancing judicial readiness, which contributes to improving the accuracy and reliability of reports.
The scientific sessions concluded with a presentation by Dr. Raed Al-Obaidan, a forensic medicine consultant, during which he reviewed distinctive cases for differentiating between suspected skin diseases and cases of sexual and physical violence, explaining the diagnostic challenges and the importance of specialized expertise in accurately distinguishing between cases, in a way that supports the accuracy of forensic medical evaluation. It enhances the path of justice.
