Launching an initiative "Arabic with the taste of people of determination"
ABU DHABI, 12 February / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center launched the “Arabic with a Taste for People of Determination” initiative, in cooperation with the Zayed Authority for People of Determination and the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, in a qualitative step that reflects the center’s directions aimed at empowering people of determination, and enhancing their effective presence in the cultural and social scenes, by employing the Arabic language and the arts as an inclusive human space for creative expression and the formulation of cultural identity.
This initiative comes within the framework of the Centre’s vision aimed at consolidating the status of the Arabic language as a language of life and creativity, going beyond traditional uses to transform into an effective tool in empowering individuals and enhancing their community participation.
The initiative provides people of determination with wider spaces to express their latent energies and talents, and enhance their presence in the national cultural movement, in line with the UAE’s trends in building a cohesive society based on equal opportunities and supporting sustainable development paths.
The initiative reflects the Center’s commitment to its societal responsibilities and strategic goals in making culture and language available to all segments of society without exception. This reflects the Center’s belief in the ability of people of determination to make a qualitative contribution to enriching the cultural scene, and to play an active role in promoting community integration through contemporary creative tools.
The cooperation with the Zayed Authority for People of Determination and the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services aims to transform the creative talents of the participants into tangible cultural achievements that can be presented in literary and cultural forums, thus enriching the Arab creative content with unique human visions that reflect the values of tolerance and coexistence that distinguish the UAE.
The first phase of the initiative was embodied in the launch of a specialized training program hosted by the “Art for All Center – Falaj” of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, with the participation of eight students of people of determination, who underwent a series of intensive workshops under the supervision of experts in the performing and visual arts. The program focused on Arabic calligraphy and actor preparation, within a training approach that combines theoretical knowledge and practical application.
The Arabic calligraphy workshop was also organized as an artistic experience during which the participants learned about the aesthetics of the Arabic letter and its decorative and expressive dimensions, and were trained to use calligraphy as a tool for drawing and visual expression of cultural identity.
The “Preparing the Actor” workshop focused on improvisational acting techniques and building a group scene, which allowed participants to present live scenes inspired by their personal experiences. The workshop contributed to developing presentation skills, enhancing visual communication, and building self-confidence in front of the audience.
The “Arabic with the Taste of People of Determination” initiative represents the nucleus of a sustainable cultural project that the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center is working to develop within long-term training programs, including art exhibitions and inclusive theatrical performances.
The initiative’s outputs are scheduled to be presented during the next session of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2026, which will be held from April 11 to 20, to ensure the continuity of its positive impact and the expansion of its scope locally, regionally and internationally, consolidating Abu Dhabi’s position as a global capital of culture incubating human creativity.
