"Dehad " Leading international partnerships to build peace through sustainable humanitarian action

Rome, February 13 / WAM / The Sustainable DIHAD Organization continues its global efforts in promoting sustainable humanitarian work, as it organized two prominent sessions in the Italian capital, Rome, the first in cooperation with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and the second in cooperation with the Luis Guido Carli University.
Sustainable DIHAD signed an agreement with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to support the Youth Innovation Without Borders Academy of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, with a total value of more than one hundred thousand dollars, confirming the organization’s role as an official partner in the academy during the global launch of the “Peace” course, which was held at the Solferino Academy of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, in the presence of an elite group of National Societies from around the world.
The Youth Innovation Academy is a global initiative whose efforts have reached more than 2,700,000 people around the world, through training more than 10,000 young pioneers in humanitarian innovation, who have contributed to the implementation of more than 2,200 projects in 150 countries, and in 17 different languages, which reflects the wide global spread of the initiative and its increasing impact in promoting sustainable humanitarian innovation.
The “Sustainable DIHAD” aims to support the Academy in promoting innovation as a tool to achieve sustainable humanitarian impact, in direct line with the “Innovation for Humanity” pillar within the “DIHAD 2044 Agenda,” by investing in youth-led innovation. The initiative enhances the strategic shift of humanitarian work from humanitarian response towards building sustainable resilience. The partnership also confirms the Sustainable DIHAD organization’s commitment to developing the skills of future generations of leaders working in the humanitarian sector to enhance the sustainability of humanitarian systems.
On the sidelines of the global launch of the Peace Cycle, a high-level roundtable meeting was held, organized by the Sustainable DIHAD organization in cooperation with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), under the title “We know that adaptation is necessary, so why is it still difficult? Leadership for continuous adaptation in a world that never stops,” in the presence of a group of senior international officials and experts in the fields of humanitarian work and development, along with a number of innovative and active young people in the social sector and community service.
Engineer Khaled Al-Attar, Director General of the Sustainable DIHAD Organization, stressed the need to invest in future generations of humanitarian leaders, and provide them with opportunities to implement their ideas on the ground, adding that supporting youth initiatives is part of the goals of the Sustainable DIHAD Organization to achieve a strategic shift from urgent humanitarian response to implementing sustainable solutions, which enhances societal ability to adapt to changing crises.
A number of prominent international speakers participated in the meeting, including His Excellency Mr. Javier Castellanos Mosquera, Under-Secretary-General for National Societies Development and Coordination of Operations at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Amin Awad, Chairman of the Foundation Board of the Geneva Center for Security Sector Governance (DCAF), and Dr. Yannick du Pont, Member of the Development Cooperation Committee of the Netherlands Advisory Council for International Affairs; Founder of SPARK, Amsterdam, Professor Michael A. Koehler, Ambassador of the Grand Bargain Initiative and Henri Cáceres, Officer at the Youth Innovation Without Borders Academy of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
The meeting was moderated by Gentari Gossiviute and Yoon Park, from the Solferino Academy staff of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
Discussions focused on the importance of continuous institutional adaptation, and how leadership, institutional culture, and governance can shape organizations’ ability to confront changing and complex challenges, especially in light of an accelerating and constantly changing global environment. The role of entrepreneurship and new forms of leadership in enhancing institutional capacity for adaptation was also discussed, emphasizing that engaging young people in creating local solutions is not just an option, but has become a strategic necessity to ensure the sustainability of humanitarian work.
The Sustainable DIHAD organization, in cooperation with the School of Government at Luis University in Rome, organized a discussion session entitled: “Building Peace through Humanity – The Role of Development, Diplomacy and International Cooperation.” This is within the framework of the “DIHAD+ Global Initiative,” which aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences between experts and organizations concerned with humanitarian relief and development with the aim of confronting pressing global humanitarian challenges and finding innovative and sustainable solutions, which has achieved great success in enhancing sustainable humanitarian relief efforts and enhancing international strategic cooperation.
The session highlighted ways to enhance global peace through humanitarian responses to crises, with a focus on the integration of development, diplomacy and international cooperation to achieve long-term stability. A group of experts and specialists in the fields of humanitarian work and development participated in the discussion, who reviewed best practices and strategies to build more resilient societies capable of facing global challenges.
His Excellency Ambassador Professor Abdul Salam Al Madani, President of the Sustainable DIHAD Organization and President of DISAP, Ambassador of the Mediterranean Parliament to the Gulf Cooperation Council region, said: “True peace begins with consolidating the values of humanity, respecting human dignity, and placing the needs of societies at the heart of every decision and every response.
