Munich Security Conference… Emirati companies celebrate their strategic partnerships to support energy security

Munich, February 14 / WAM / The UAE Embassy in the Federal Republic of Germany, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company “ADNOC”, the “XRG” Company, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company “Masdar”, and the German-Emirati Business Council hosted a reception yesterday evening on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

The ceremony was held in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Special Envoy to the Federal Republic of Germany. His Excellency Ahmed Al Attar, the UAE Ambassador to Germany, witnessed the participation of more than 300 business leaders, decision makers, government officials and prominent partners from across Europe.

His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber said during his speech at the ceremony, “In line with the leadership’s vision, the UAE is focusing on building qualitative partnerships that contribute to supporting stability and promoting growth in various fields. Energy security in today’s world constitutes a fundamental pillar for ensuring security, which confirms the necessity of building solid, long-term partnerships more than ever before. The UAE is proud to be a reliable partner for Germany and Europe in general, and we confirm our commitment to continuing efforts to enhance energy security and advance economic development.”

The ceremony included speeches by His Excellency Ahmed Al-Attar; and Markus Söder, Prime Minister of the State of Bavaria, highlighting the important role of the UAE as a reliable partner, long-term investor and active contributor to enhancing European energy security.

Through ADNOC, XRG, and Masdar, the UAE continues to contribute to enhancing the flexibility of the energy system in Europe by diversifying supplies, expanding the scope of investments, and consolidating frameworks for sustainable industrial cooperation.

The combined investments of the three companies amount to more than 38 billion euros in the energy and industrial sectors across the continent.

Germany represents a fundamental pillar in this partnership, and the two countries have strong economic relations that contribute to stimulating innovation, enhancing industrial competitiveness, and supporting sustainable growth.

The UAE’s investments in the energy and industrial sectors in Germany exceeded 18 billion euros, with plans to raise them to about 30 billion euros over the next decade.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of His Excellency Christian Stocker, Chancellor of the Republic of Austria; His Highness Prince Alois Philipp Maria von und zu Liechtenstein, Crown Prince of the Principality of Liechtenstein; Her Excellency Katrina Reiche, Minister of Economy and Energy of the German Federal Government and Her Excellency Carsten Schneider, Minister of the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Protection and Nuclear Safety of the German Federal Government; His Excellency Hendrik Fust, Prime Minister of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany; His Excellency Elissa Spiropali, Minister of European and Foreign Affairs of Albania, and His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The list of attendees from the Emirati side included His Excellency Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to His Highness the President of the State, and His Excellency Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State; His Excellency Hamid Obaid Khalifa Abu Shehab, Chairman of the Emirates Accounting Authority; His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal National Council;

His Excellency Faisal Abdulaziz Al-Bannai, Advisor to the President of the State for Strategic and Advanced Technological Research,

His Excellency Abdullah Al-Alaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability Affairs; His Excellency Mohammed Al-Sahlawi, UAE Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the European Union; Mohammed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar; Musabah Al Kaabi, CEO of Exploration, Development and Production at ADNOC; Mohammed Al-Eryani, Head of International Gas Platform at XRG; and Dr. Rainer Seele, Head of the Chemicals Platform at XRG.

The reception came following the visit of His Excellency Friedrich Merz, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, last week to the UAE, which witnessed the signing of “Masdar” and “ADNOC” agreements with the company “RWE” aimed at enhancing energy security in Germany.
