The book market is a light touch in "Sharjah Heritage Days" The 23rd

Sharjah, February 15, 2017 (WAM): In its twenty-third session, Sharjah Heritage Days celebrates tangible and intangible heritage, emphasizing the presence of the slogan “The Glow of Authenticity” in the details of various life events and activities, from the culture of local, Arab and international food, to dances, music, folk songs, fairy tales, the intellectual program, and various markets, including the book market or “Al-Katatib – Al-Katabin Market,” located near the theater in Al-Ayyam Square in the heart of Sharjah.

This market adds a touch of light that illuminates minds and hearts with the publications it displays from the participating publishing houses, including Al-Qasimi Publications, Dar Siddiqat, Dar Qissa, Dar Aram, Dar Kulaman, Dar Al-Dhabi, Dar Al-Turath Al-Sha’bi, Dar Nabati, in addition to Dar Hind, Dar Bu Malha, and Dar Ghaf.

The “Al Muroth” library also appears in its own corner, displaying books published by the Sharjah Heritage Institute, including new publications signed by their authors at “Bayt Al Naboodah.”

These houses, along with others, contribute to enriching the cultural scene, illuminating awareness, developing the language, activating the imagination, and restoring the fragrance of the times, with special attention to children and young people, and providing intellectual, novel, short-story, poetic, research, and documentary books that are appropriate for different ages.

The presence of these publications is highlighted in an ancient style that recalls the “Al-Warraqeen” market in the Arab countries. The wooden cabinets, doors and lanterns give the library platforms a warm, heritage atmosphere, along with appropriate decorations such as games, story characters, drawings, stationery items and souvenirs, in a cultural scene that forms a living painting in which memory intersects with creativity and gives the visitor an experience that goes beyond browsing to interacting with the spirit of the book and its history.

The book market during the “Sharjah Heritage Days” remains a vibrant space that combines the warmth of memory and the light of knowledge. Where the story juxtaposes with research, and the child with the passionate reader, in a scene that confirms that the book is still the companion of identity and the mirror of awareness.

This market will also remain one of the bright touches that deepen the presence of culture in the minds of visitors and continue to ignite the “glow of authenticity” in the hearts, so that the pages remain open to new seasons of story and knowledge.
