This came during a meeting held by the General Secretariat, today in the Department of Culture, to choose the title of the new session, and to open the door to participation in the award’s subject for writers, critics, and those interested in criticizing Arabic poetry, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the award.
Muhammad Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department at the Sharjah Department of Culture, Secretary General of the Sharjah Award for Criticism of Arabic Poetry, said that the cultural vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah contributed to consolidating the presence of Arabic poetry criticism and enhancing its position in the Arab cultural scene.
He added that the award is moving today toward a new and renewed session that deals with a remarkable critical topic, continuing its role in contributing to the establishment of a cultural scene that places the Arabic poem at the center of critical attention in order to monitor the transformations that occur in its language and aesthetic structure. He pointed out that the award has established, through its successive sessions, a specialized critical library in view of the amount of knowledge provided by the entries, as it witnesses an increasing demand with each new session.
He explained that the title of the new edition opens broad critical horizons, rich in connotations and references, and stems from a deep research approach related to the transformations of the poetic language in the Arabic poem, which provides critics with wider spaces to work on new critical issues.
Al-Quseir pointed out that the secretariat will work to expand the scope of the award’s awareness, starting from universities and academic circles to criticism specialists in various Arab countries, in addition to organizing introductory seminars through poetry houses in the Arab world to ensure broad Arab participation.
