"Federal National" Discussing strengthening cooperation with the Ukrainian Parliament
Munich, February 16 / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal National Council, met, on the sidelines of participation in the work of the Munich Security Conference, His Excellency Oleksiy Goncharenko, Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Ukraine, and Chairman of the Black Sea Security Forum, in the presence of Her Excellency Sarah Muhammad Falaknaz, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Friendship Committee of the Federal National Council with the parliaments of European countries.
During the meeting, they discussed cooperation relations between the UAE and the Republic of Ukraine, and stressed the common interest in developing areas of cooperation to serve the mutual interests between the two countries.
The UAE’s hosting of the tripartite talks between the Russian Federation, the Republic of Ukraine, and the United States of America in Abu Dhabi was also appreciated, and its success in mediation efforts in the exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia, which consolidates its pioneering approach in supporting paths of peaceful resolution, reducing tension and escalation, and strengthening international security and peace efforts through dialogue and diplomatic means, in addition to praising the role of the UAE in supporting humanitarian and relief work, which contributes to alleviating human suffering and building confidence between the various parties.
His Excellency Dr. Ali Al Nuaimi stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy alongside official diplomacy in activating dialogue and understanding between peoples, and the necessity of coordinating international parliamentary positions to support peace paths, pointing in this context to the efforts led by the high-level working group concerned with the peaceful solution of the Ukrainian-Russian crisis in the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
