The Tamir Observatory is an extension of the historical legacy for which the city is known in the field of Observing the crescents and stars, as the King Abdulaziz House documented the ancient practice of people observing from the western side of the city, benefiting from the clarity of the atmosphere and clarity of vision, before Al-Tara’i moved to the new location that was specially equipped; To be an organized and accredited observatory for investigative work.

Complete facilities to serve meters

The observatory includes integrated facilities that serve the translators, including a dedicated office for the Trial Committee in coordination with the Supreme Court, reception and waiting halls, in addition to an upper area equipped for monitoring work, allowing the translators to meet in one location, and carry out investigation work in an organized environment that supports the legal and scientific aspects.

The establishment of the observatory comes within a community initiative in partnership between the Ibrahim bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Sultan Charitable Foundation and the Riyadh Municipality, which carried out the implementation of the project. It adopted it as part of its efforts to support community initiatives with a cognitive dimension, and to enhance the readiness of service facilities in the centers of the region, while sighting work is carried out by specialized sighters, considering the observatory a designated site for them.

The first sighting of the Ramadan crescent at the Tamir Observatory represents a step to consolidate its presence as an approved site for crescent moon sighting work; In a way that contributes to serving the community, supporting monitoring work, and enhancing the sustainability of this legacy in the city.
