"Unified Medical Operations Command" Manages medical preparedness for "Masters Games Abu Dhabi"

ABU DHABI, 17th February, 2020 (WAM) – The Unified Medical Operations Command Center, affiliated with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and operated by the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, manages the medical response system for the Abu Dhabi 2026 Masters Games, as part of its leadership of the medical committee organizing the event, as part of its efforts to ensure the highest standards of health safety for participants and visitors.

The center operates throughout the tournament days with more than 30 ambulances daily during the peak of competitions, in addition to deploying independent medical teams from medical service providers that include up to 45 field and itinerant paramedics, and operating 8 field clinics at event sites under the supervision of more than 40 clinical and medical personnel daily, supported by medical volunteer teams and 13 light medical vehicles to cover all competition sites and accompanying activities, with the participation of more than 25,000 athletes from around the world.

Two integrated digital platforms were activated within the center’s system for managing medical cases, including a platform for linking clinics and a platform for managing ambulance reports, to ensure that cases are documented and followed up through the various stages of the response, starting from the pre-hospital stage until the case arrives at the health facility, while supporting operational processes and full integration with the approved health systems in the emirate.

The center works to coordinate and follow up on medical cases that require transportation to hospitals, in cooperation with Pure Health, Capital Ambulance, Response Plus Medical (RPM), the National Guard, and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority.

The Unified Medical Operations Command Center is responsible for leading and planning the medical preparedness and response system for the event, ensuring the provision of the necessary medical support and the application of the highest health safety standards for participants and visitors, taking advantage of the advanced infrastructure and the smart and integrated health system in the emirate, and its ability to protect members of society and meet their needs efficiently and in various circumstances.

His Excellency Dr. Rashid Obaid Ali Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, stressed the Center’s pride in its pivotal role in the success of this event, which embodies the values ​​of solidarity and the spirit of participation and promotes the concept of healthy, sustainable living.

He explained that close cooperation with partners represents an essential foundation for ensuring the highest levels of security and safety for participants and visitors of various categories, noting that advance planning and integration between the concerned authorities contribute to building an advanced and integrated health response system, which enhances Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading model in health preparedness and community prevention.

He added that the event constitutes an important platform for spreading the culture of healthy living as a method available to everyone, by presenting simplified awareness messages that focus on proper nutrition, practicing physical activity, paying attention to psychological well-being, and regulating sleep, which reflects positively on the quality of life and contributes to building a society that enjoys health, wellness and long life.

In its pavilion at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center receives about 200 visitors daily as part of the “Abu Dhabi 2026 Masters Games” activities, providing four interactive experiences for visitors in the areas of physical activity, nutrition, sleep, and psychological well-being, to enhance awareness of a healthy lifestyle and the practice of sports activities, in line with the goals of the tournament in establishing the sustainability of practicing various physical sports to achieve quality of life.

The center’s pavilion also witnesses a virtual reality experience, which includes breathing and relaxation exercises, amid a great demand from all segments of society to participate and benefit from the interactive experiences.
