"Sharjah Social Empowerment" Supports 1,200 families through a campaign "Zak"

Sharjah, February 17, 2017 / WAM / The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation has begun handing over the dues for the Zakat Money and Ramadan Mir projects, at a total cost of approximately two million dirhams, benefiting about 1,200 affiliated families, including more than 2,700 orphans in the Emirate of Sharjah and the central and eastern regions, as part of the Ramadan “Zakat” campaign.

The initiative comes within the framework of the Foundation’s keenness to manage Zakat funds according to a clear methodology that ensures they reach those who deserve them, and contributes to meeting the basic needs of families during the holy month of Ramadan, thus enhancing their stability and supporting the paths of empowering their children in the long term.

Her Excellency Mona Bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Foundation, said that the “Zakat” campaign represents one of the main paths adopted by the Foundation in employing the obligation of Zakat to achieve a sustainable development impact that reflects the stability of families and the quality of their lives, stressing the keenness to manage Zakat funds according to standards of governance and transparency, ensuring that they are directed to programs that enhance empowerment and independence and contribute to building a generation capable of self-reliance and positive participation in society.

She pointed out that the trust of the community and supporters constitutes an essential foundation for the sustainability of these efforts and expanding the scope of beneficiaries annually, stressing that the Foundation will continue, through the “Zak” campaign, its efforts in transforming giving into a sustainable impact that enhances the empowerment and stability of families and children without fathers.
