The Central Bank Governor heads the country’s delegation at the meeting of the Central Bank Governors Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in Bahrain

ABU DHABI, 18th February, 2018 (WAM) – His Excellency Khalid Mohammed Al Amma, Governor of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates, headed the country’s delegation participating in the eighty-sixth meeting of the Central Bank Governors Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which was hosted by the Bahraini capital, Manama.

According to a press release issued today by the Central Bank, the meeting was held under the chairmanship of His Excellency Khalid Ibrahim Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, and with the participation of His Excellency Jassim Mohammed Al Budawi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council and their Excellencies the Governors of central banks in the GCC countries, where they discussed a number of strategic issues of common interest, and reviewed the most prominent indicators of monetary and financial developments in the GCC countries.

The governors discussed ways to enhance cooperation and integration between Gulf central banks, especially in the areas of linking payment systems, banking supervision and control, financial technology and innovation. The meeting also addressed the importance of exchanging expertise and information to enhance cybersecurity of the financial and banking sectors, and reviewed joint efforts in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing.

The delegation of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates included His Excellency Ibrahim Obaid Al Zaabi, Assistant Governor for the Monetary Policy and Financial Stability Sector, His Excellency Ibrahim Al Sayed Mohammed Al Hashimi, Assistant Governor for the Executive Office Sector and Secretary General of the Board of Directors, His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Dhaheri, Assistant Governor for the Banking Operations and Support Services Sector, in addition to a number of senior officials at the Central Bank.
