The UAE and Zambia are discussing ways to improve trade and investment relations

Lusaka – Zambia, February 18 / WAM / His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia, received His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, at the presidential residence in the Zambian capital, Lusaka.
During the meeting, His Excellency Al Zeyoudi conveyed to the President of Zambia the greetings of the wise leadership of the UAE, and its wishes for the leadership, government and people of the Republic of Zambia for further prosperity and prosperity.
This came as part of the official visit made by Al-Zeyoudi to Zambia, within the framework of the UAE Trade and Investment Days, at the head of an Emirati delegation of senior officials and business leaders, to discuss ways to advance trade and investment relations between the two countries, based on their thriving non-oil trade amounting to $3.4 billion in 2025, with a record growth of 64.5% compared to what was achieved in 2024.
His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi said: “Zambia represents an important economic partner for the UAE on the African continent. Our discussions during this visit focused on stimulating trade exchange, enhancing investment partnerships, and aligning our common economic priorities in a way that supports sustainable growth in the two friendly countries.”
Al-Zeyoudi stressed that the UAE’s keenness to strengthen its trade and investment relations with Zambia stems from the country’s consistent approach in building development partnerships with African countries to achieve mutual benefits and joint economic growth.
His Excellency Al-Zayoudi and the accompanying delegation held a series of meetings with a number of senior officials in the Zambian government, which included His Excellency Makozo Chikute, Minister of Energy, His Excellency Situmbeko Mosokotwane, Minister of Finance and National Planning, His Excellency Felix Mutati, Minister of Technology and Science, His Excellency Reuben Mtulu Phiri, Minister of Agriculture, His Excellency Chibuka Mulenga, Minister of Trade and Industry, and His Excellency Dr. Elijah Julacai Mushima, Minister of Health.
The meetings focused on discussing ways to expand trade cooperation and enhance investment opportunities across priority sectors.
His Excellency also participated in a ministerial roundtable meeting that brought together members of the UAE delegation and senior officials in Zambia, to discuss ways to deepen cooperation between the private sector and business communities on both sides and enhance long-term economic interdependence between them.
This expanded meeting formed a platform to discuss expanding cooperation in key sectors, identifying practical paths to enhance trade and investment ties, in addition to discussing trade facilitation and supporting private sector participation.
The two sides exchanged visions and ideas about developing new mechanisms to support joint efforts to improve the prospects for future cooperation between the two countries in trade and investment.
The UAE delegation included representatives of major economic sectors, including agriculture, mining, renewable energy, logistics, aviation, healthcare, digital economy, and infrastructure, reflecting the growing commercial interest in the Zambian market and in line with Zambia’s development priorities.
