Abdullah bin Zayed and the US Secretary of State discuss in Washington the strategic relations between the two countries and the situation in the region

During his meeting with Marco Rubio, Secretary of State of the friendly United States of America, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed the strategic relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them in a way that serves their mutual interests.

During the meeting, which was held within the framework of a working visit by His Highness to Washington, the two sides also reviewed ways to expand the horizons of bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including economic, trade, artificial intelligence, and advanced technology.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized the depth and diversity of the strategic relations between the UAE and the United States of America.

The two sides discussed all current regional developments, especially the situation in the Middle East.

They discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation within the framework of the Peace Council, thus contributing to supporting international efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region.

The two sides also reviewed the importance of the Peace Council as an effective international platform to enhance multilateral coordination and advance paths of peaceful solutions, in a way that serves the aspirations of the peoples of the region towards a future of stability, development and prosperity.

His Highness and Marco Rubio discussed a number of issues of common interest, most notably the latest developments in the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and the need to intensify international efforts to address the repercussions of this crisis and ensure that humanitarian aid reaches civilians at a sufficient pace to meet all their needs.

During his discussions with the US Secretary of State, His Highness touched on the tragic developments of the civil war in Sudan, and ways to strengthen regional and international efforts aimed at reaching an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, supporting humanitarian relief efforts for the brotherly Sudanese people, and allowing the entry of humanitarian aid to civilians in a way that contributes to meeting their needs and alleviating their suffering.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that the UAE’s accession to the Peace Council comes from its firm commitment to supporting international initiatives that enhance the chances of peace and consolidate the foundations of regional stability.

His Highness stressed the importance of moving forward with the implementation of all stages of the peace plan announced by His Excellency Donald Trump regarding the Gaza Strip, as it represents an integrated framework that enhances the chances of reaching a sustainable settlement.

His Highness stressed the UAE’s readiness to play a pivotal role in supporting the goals of the Peace Council, and to work with international partners to enhance cooperation and intensify efforts aimed at achieving security and stability, in a way that meets the aspirations of the peoples of the region towards a more secure and prosperous future.
