Ramadan drama season 2026.. Women dominate the annual race

 

The holy month of Ramadan has officially begun, and with it the annual Ramadan drama marathon. Today, the Arab television industry is truly immersed in one of its most competitive seasons in recent years. This season has a noticeably different pace and intensity. Between the return of leading stars who stayed away from Ramadan drama for several years, the continued dominance of well-known stars, and the emergence of young names confidently proving their presence, the 2026 season appears to be poised to reshape the balance of power in television drama.

Gulf drama will present a large group of series in Ramadan 2026, and it seems that the stars will get a large space in terms of the two leads: the first and the second, in these works, which vary in terms of ideas and stories. Elham Al-Fadala presents the series “Ghalat Banat”, which takes the audience back to the eighties in a new style, far from traditional modern drama. Meanwhile, Hoda Hussein leads in “Hide and Seek,” which reflects nostalgia for the seventies in Kuwait, and highlights women’s ability to embody historical and social figures with the same strength and attractiveness.

Nelly Karim also holds a prominent place through the series “Ala Qad al-Hob,” which is a profound human drama that revolves around a woman facing life’s difficulties after the death of her mother. Co-starring: Sherif Salama, Maha Nassar, Ahmed Magdy, Safaa Al-Toukhi, Mimi Gamal, and Muhammad Abu Dawoud. It is written by Mustafa Gamal Hashem and directed by Khaled Saeed. Karim is known for her ability to embody emotionally complex, multi-dimensional characters, and continues her commitment to telling emotional and socially relevant stories.

Menna Shalaby is undertaking one of her most daring projects to date, through the series “Companions of the Earth,” a love story that unfolds under conditions of war. Co-starring with Iyad Nassar, the work includes a distinguished Arab and international cast, including: Adam Bakri and Palestinian actor Kamel Al-Basha. The series stands out as one of the most daring narratives this season, exploring the nature of human relationships under extreme circumstances.

In the field of psychological drama, Reham Abdel Ghafour leads the series “The Story of Narcissus,” where she plays a character made up of deep emotional and psychological conflicts. Participating in the work are: Hamza Al-Aili, Tamer Nabil, Samah Anwar, Donia Maher, Basant Abu Basha, and Ahmed Azmi. It is written by Ammar Saber and directed by Sameh Alaa. The project is consistent with Abdel Ghafour’s recent artistic direction, which favors precise performances and character-based narratives.

Rogina joins the competition in the series “Haqda”, where she embodies the character “Sabah”, a woman carrying severe internal contradictions and emotional turmoil. Co-starring with Mohamed Al-Qas, the work also represents the first directorial experience for director Maya Ashraf Zaki, which adds an element of curiosity to the project.

Jumana Murad enters the season with the series “Blue Color,” written by Maryam Naoum and directed by Saad Hindawi. This work attracts attention because of Naoum’s signature exploration of complex social and psychological issues, in addition to Murad’s distinctive presence on the screen.

Mai Omar is also participating in a new Ramadan work entitled “Lady Mona Lisa,” written by Mohamed Sayed Bashir, and directed by Mohamed Ali. The series follows the story of a divorced woman who faces profound changes after the failure of her marriage. She rebuilds her life and discovers a new love in a society full of challenges.

At the same time, Reham Haggag continues to capitalize on her recent successes; To appear in the series “Minions”, in which she collaborates with writer Muhammad Nayir and director Yahya Ismail. This work comes after the great success achieved by Reham in the series “Athena”, during the Ramadan 2025 drama, which confirms the continuation of the creative strategy that the Egyptian star is pursuing.
