19 people were killed as a result of a bus crash in Nepal

Police in Nepal said that a bus fell from a mountain road in the west of the country before dawn on Monday, killing 19 people, including a British citizen.

The police added that only nine of the dead have been identified so far, noting that the bus was carrying 44 passengers in total.

A police statement explained that a New Zealand citizen and another Chinese citizen were among 25 people who were injured when the bus plunged 200 meters from the road in the Dhading area, located about 80 kilometers west of the capital, Kathmandu.

The bus was heading from the tourist city of Pokhara to Kathmandu. The statement added that the injured are receiving treatment in hospitals in the capital.
