المملكة: 350 sales outlets for each municipality… launching an initiative "Basta Khair Saudi Arabia 2026"


The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing launched the second version of the initiative "" Which is held during the month of Ramadan, in partnership with the regional secretariats, as part of the efforts of the team to support, develop and empower street vendors in and Housing to regulate the activity of street vendors and empower them, and provide approved selling sites that contribute to raising the quality of practice and improving the experience of visitors, thus enhancing the goals of improving the urban landscape and quality of life in the cities of the Kingdom.

The Ministry explained that It will launch with five sites for each municipality, with a target of up to 350 sales outlets for each municipality, with at least two sites in each municipality allocated to the sustainability path, ensuring the continued operation of these sites after the end of the month of Ramadan, and enhancing the initiative’s transition from a seasonal activity to an organized model capable of expansion and sustainable application.

Basta Khair Initiative

The Ministry indicated that the second version is based on organizing sales sites according to clear requirements and unified operating standards, It contributes to raising the level of compliance within the approved sites, enhancing safety for vendors and visitors, in addition to implementing continuous field monitoring to ensure compliance with regulatory and health requirements.

The Ministry confirmed that the initiative contributes to enhancing the civilized image of licensed stalls as an organized model that reflects the identity of cities and improves the public landscape, by unifying the elements of visual identity within the sites while taking into account the local specificity of each region, which provides more sustainable economic opportunities for participants, and opens a gradual path to transition from unregulated activities. To an official practice within clear regulatory frameworks, which is reflected in the stability of income, improving the quality of service, and enhancing the reliability of the experience.

Regulatory and health requirements

The Ministry indicated that the selection of the initiative’s sites is made according to criteria related to the vitality of the place and its suitability to population density, its proximity to public destinations such as parks, public squares, and waterfronts, and the availability of basic services, with the possibility of long-term organization in order to achieve smooth movement and clarity of operation and control paths. In selecting participants, the regulatory and health requirements must be met, the activity clearly defined, and the level of commitment raised.

It is noteworthy that the first version of the initiative "Basta Khair Saudi Arabia 2025" It witnessed the participation of 1,732 vendors, receiving about 814,000 visitors, in addition to achieving a sustainability rate of 30% after the end of the initiative, and recording satisfaction levels that reached 90% among participants and visitors, which reflects its economic and social impact, and supports the Ministry’s direction towards developing an organized and sustainable model to empower street vendors in various regions of the Kingdom.
