The UAE illuminates the path of hope with Ramadan initiatives that alleviate the suffering of those in need around the world

Abu Dhabi, February 26 / WAM / On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the UAE launched a series of Ramadan initiatives and campaigns with a global dimension that embody its firm and ongoing commitment to promoting the values of compassion, tolerance and giving.
These initiatives and campaigns, which extend to all continents of the world and are distinguished by their innovative ideas and methods, reinforce the UAE’s position as a beacon of goodness and humanity, and confirm its leadership in providing a helping hand and assistance to those in need wherever they are.
In keeping with his annual custom with the beginning of the holy month, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, launched the “11.5: Limit Life” campaign, to save five million children from hunger in the world.
The campaign is an extension of His Highness’s vision, which made combating world hunger a special priority and a main focus of many humanitarian initiatives and projects sponsored by His Highness.
The campaign focuses in particular on children who face the most dangerous forms of hunger in the most vulnerable communities, especially in areas of disasters, crises and conflicts, where 5 children under the age of five die from malnutrition and hunger in the world every minute. All segments of UAE society, individuals and institutions, participate in the campaign.
For its part, the Emirates Red Crescent Authority announced that more than 1.5 million people within the UAE and in 44 countries around the world are benefiting from its Ramadan programs this year, which include Ramadan food, breaking the fast, breaking the fast, zakat al-Fitr, and Eid clothing, at an estimated cost exceeding 60 million dirhams, as part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to mitigate the repercussions of the humanitarian situation in a number of countries.
The Gaza Strip and the Palestinian brothers formed a major focus in the UAE’s giving initiatives during the month of Ramadan, as on February 12, the humanitarian aid ship “Umm Al Emarat” sailed, heading to the Gaza Strip, with a total load exceeding 7,300 tons of various aid, including food supplies, shelter materials, and medical supplies, which contributes to supporting food security and enhancing the urgent humanitarian response to the needs of affected families in the Gaza Strip.
In a related context, His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, directed the launch of a humanitarian air bridge to relieve the Gaza Strip, coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan, as part of Operation “The Gallant Knight 3” to support the Palestinian people and alleviate their suffering in light of the current circumstances.
The bridge will be allocated to transport various relief aid, including food parcels, health materials, and supplies for children and women, in addition to urgent basic needs, which will contribute to supporting the affected families and meeting their living needs during the holy month.
Through Operation Gallant Knight 3, the UAE continues to send humanitarian aid convoys to the Gaza Strip as part of its ongoing relief efforts to support the Palestinian brothers and alleviate their suffering.
Operation “The Gallant Knight 3” confirmed that the continued entry of convoys during the month of Ramadan embodies the UAE’s established approach to giving and humanitarian work, and its keenness to deliver relief and medical support on a regular basis, which contributes to meeting the urgent needs of families and enhancing health services provided to siblings within the sector.
The Big Heart Foundation also announced the launch of the second edition of its Ramadan campaign, “Children of Olive,” to direct support this year to Palestinian amputee children in the Gaza Strip, with more than 1,000 registered children waiting to receive artificial limbs and specialized rehabilitation services.
The campaign aims to provide an integrated health and rehabilitation care path, not only providing customized prosthetic limbs, but also including rehabilitation treatment and psychological and social support.
A delegation from the International Charity Organization arrived in Mauritania, with the aim of inspecting and implementing 90 charitable projects for the benefit of poor villages and the most needy groups. Among the most prominent projects is the maintenance and furnishing of mosques and preparing them to receive worshipers during the month of Ramadan, in addition to digging wells, and iftar projects for Muslim villages, which included distributing food parcels to poor and needy families, in addition to implementing zakat projects, and other initiatives in line with the purposes of the month of Ramadan. And his human values.
Under the slogan “Feed a child, build a kitchen,” Dubai Cares, affiliated with Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, launched its Ramadan campaign that aims to support the environmentally friendly school meals program that will start in Kenya in preparation for expansion in sub-Saharan African countries, transforming collective giving into sustainable food, promising opportunities, and greater resilience for children and their families in the face of the challenges of hunger and malnutrition.
The launch of the program comes in light of data indicating that more than 90% of children in Africa lack a balanced diet, while 60% of children in Kenya suffer from malnutrition, which directly affects their attendance, concentration and academic achievement.
