Prime Minister of Lesotho: Dubai is a distinguished global economic model and we look forward to improving our investment cooperation

Johannesburg, June 6, 2017 – His Excellency Sam Matekane, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, praised Dubai’s distinguished economic model and its leading position on the global stage.
This came during the meeting held by Dubai Chambers with a high-level ministerial delegation headed by His Excellency Sam Matekane, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, with the participation of Salem Al Shamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, and His Excellency Mahesh Saeed Al Hameli, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa, non-resident ambassador to the Kingdom of Lesotho, during which ways to enhance trade and investment movement between the two sides were discussed.
The meeting was attended by a number of Ministers of the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho, including His Excellency Nthati Morosi, Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation, His Excellency Mohlomi Moleko, Minister of Natural Resources, His Excellency Motlatsi Makilibo, Minister of Trade, Industry and Business Development, and His Excellency Mr. Ntsimi Gavita, High Commissioner of the Kingdom of Lesotho to the Republic of South Africa.
His Excellency Sam Matekane stressed his country’s keenness to strengthen investment relations between Lesotho and Dubai, calling for benefiting from Dubai’s extensive experience in the field of logistics services, infrastructure and the digital economy to advance investment cooperation between the two sides.
His Excellency called for organizing the Dubai-Lesotho Business Forum to be an ideal platform to showcase investment opportunities and enhance channels of partnership and cooperation between the business communities in Dubai and Lesotho.
For his part, Salem Al Shamsi said that Dubai Chambers is committed to expanding cooperation with the Kingdom of Lesotho and advancing efforts aimed at expanding the scope of trade and investment exchange between the business communities on both sides, thus contributing to creating new opportunities for common growth and prosperity.
He stressed the Chamber’s keenness to enhance communication between private sector companies in Dubai and Lesotho, and to explore promising areas of cooperation in economic sectors of common interest, in a way that supports the diversification of commercial partnerships, opens new horizons for investors and entrepreneurs, and develops qualitative partnerships that contribute to increasing the volume of trade and mutual investment.
The trade mission organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce to South Africa comes as part of its efforts to support the expansion of companies operating in Dubai into South African markets by examining prospects for cooperation with local partners and exploring new areas of growth in all sectors.
