Abu Dhabi, 2nd March / WAM / His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Advisor to His Highness the President of the UAE and President of the Emirates Camel Racing Federation, witnessed the Sun Al Laqaya camel competitions for tribal people, as part of the activities of the annual final festival of purebred Arabian camel racing, “Al Wathba Final 2026”, at the Al Wathba Camel Racecourse in Abu Dhabi.
His Excellency continued the runs of symbols for the age of Al-Lakaya in the production category in the southern field for a distance of 5 km, and witnessed strong competitions to win the first places, and “Sarabah”, by Mubarak Muhammad Waraika Al-Amri, was crowned with the title and the Al-Lakaya Al-Abkar Local Production Cup in the first main half, covering the distance in 7 minutes and 21 seconds, to win the financial prize of one million dirhams.
Al-Qa’ud “Al-Qurm”, by Mubarak Saeed Salem Al-Zar’i, won the second Al-Lakaya token after Al-Qa’dan’s local rifle won the production, ending the second half with a time of 7 minutes and 19 seconds.
The third and fourth halves were held for the hybrids, and “Sanaf” by Mohammed Salem Al-Fahida Al-Marri won the Al-Lakaya Cup for the first-born hybrids in the production category, achieving 7 minutes and 21 seconds. Then “Tawaq” by Saeed Hamoud Hamid Al-Jadaili concluded the Al-Rumuz rounds of the Al-Lakaya competitions by obtaining the Shaddad Al-Qa’dan Al-Lakaya Al-Muhlajat production, as he achieved the best time in the Al-Rumuz rounds, recording 7 minutes and 15 seconds.
The first part of the annual final festival of purebred Arabian camel racing will conclude tomorrow, Tuesday, with races and broadcast age codes for the production category.
The organizing committee of the festival decided to hold the “Sen Al-Haqayeq”, “Al-Lakaya” and “Radio” competitions for the production category during the holy month of Ramadan, with the rest of the Al-Wathba final competitions for the year 2026 being completed at the end of the camel racing season in the next stage with the participation of thousands of camel mounts of Their Highnesses the Sheikhs, the people of the state and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
