Announcing the winners of the Sharjah Theater Writing Award 2025-2026

Sharjah, 2nd March / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the Theater Department of the Department of Culture in the Government of Sharjah announced the names of the winners of the Sharjah Award for Theatrical Composition “Theatrical Texts for Adults (2025-2026),” which aims to support theatrical writing in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
Omani writer Maryam Abdullah Mubarak won first place for her text “A Will Before I Was Born,” and Emirati writer Ahmed Abdullah Rashid came second for his text “He Killed Himself,” while Omani writer Badr Al Hamdani came third for his text “The Station.”
The first place will be awarded 100 thousand dirhams, the second place will be awarded 50 thousand dirhams, and the third place will be awarded 25 thousand dirhams. The winners will be honored during the thirty-fifth session of Sharjah Theater Days on March 24.
The award requires that entries be in classical Arabic, original, not previously published or participated in other competitions, and that the contestant participate with only one text. Submissions close on February 1 of each year.
