Targeting the Assembly of Experts building in Qom to prevent the selection of a new guide

An Israeli military official confirmed that the Assembly of Experts building in Qom was targeted, with the aim of preventing the Iranians from choosing a new leader.
The Israeli official told Axios that the targeting occurred during the counting of votes to choose the new Iranian leader.
He added that it is not yet clear which members of the Council of Experts were in the building at the time of the attack, nor the extent of the damage.
Meanwhile, Yedioth Ahronoth quoted an Israeli security source as saying that not all of the 88 members of the Assembly of Experts were in the building in Qom at the time of the attack, but rather a much smaller number.
