Launching interactive dialogues with candidates to assume the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations

The term of the current Secretary-General, António Guterres, ends on December 31, 2026.

Who are the candidates?

🔹Michelle Bachelet (Chile)

🔹Rafael Grossi (Argentina)

🔹Rebecca Greenspan (Costa Rica)

🔹Mekki Sall (Senegal)

The dialogues are held in the Trusteeship Council Hall and broadcast on United Nations webcast site.

Tuesday will witness an interactive dialogue with Michelle Bachelet (from 10 am to 1 pm) and Rafael Grossi (from 3 pm to 6 pm).

On Wednesday, the dialogue will be held with Rebecca Greenspan (from 10 am to 1 pm) and Mackie Sall (from 3 pm to 6 pm).

These dialogues will be chaired by General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock, who is expected to speak to journalists outside the General Assembly Hall tomorrow morning at 9:45 am.

Some candidates are also expected to speak to journalists after the dialogue sessions.
