The US Embassy in Beirut closes its doors until further notice

The US Embassy in Beirut announced on Tuesday that it will close its doors until further notice due to ongoing regional tensions, with all regular and emergency consular appointments cancelled.

In a brief statement posted on the X platform, the embassy said it would inform the public once normal operations resume.

No timetable was provided for reopening the embassy.

The closure comes amid escalating violence along the Lebanese-Israeli border, where cross-border fires and air strikes have intensified in recent days.

The security situation has prompted many foreign and Arab embassies to send warnings to their citizens to leave Lebanon.

Diplomatic missions often reduce operations during periods of heightened instability, especially when regional hostilities threaten to spill over.
