Trump is discussing the scenario of deploying forces on the ground in Iran

NBC News said on Saturday that US President Donald Trump, in private conversations, expressed serious interest in the possibility of deploying US forces on the ground inside Iran.
The network quoted American officials as saying that Trump discussed the idea of deploying ground forces in Iran with aides and Republican officials while he was discussing post-war scenarios.
According to the sources, the proposal to deploy American forces in Iran is not related to a broad invasion, but rather to sending a limited force for specific tasks.
The network added that Trump has not yet taken a final decision, and has not issued any orders to deploy American forces on the ground in Iran.
The officials who spoke to NBC News explained that the White House confirms that Trump keeps all options open, but he did not specify the option of deploying ground forces.
In a phone interview with NBC News on Thursday evening, Trump was quoted as saying that the Iranians “lost everything. They lost their navy. They lost everything they could possibly lose.”
In response to a question about Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi’s statement in which he said that an American ground operation would be “disastrous for them,” Trump said that these were “useless statements.”
Trump continued, saying: “We want to go in and cleanse everything,” as he put it, while the country chooses a new leader.
Trump stressed: “We don’t want someone who is rebuilding over 10 years. We want them to have a good leader. We have some people who I think will do a good job.”
Trump did not reveal the name of the person he meant, but he said that efforts were being made to ensure that they were not killed in the war on Iran that began last Saturday.
