Rashid bin Humaid: The UAE is an attractive global destination for hosting sports tournaments

Ajman, 9 March / WAM / Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Head of the Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman, confirmed that the UAE is an attractive global destination for hosting various sports tournaments, thanks to its supportive leadership, welcoming people, and administrative system that facilitates organizing and hosting major tournaments, in addition to an integrated infrastructure that ensures the provision of the highest levels of luxury for athletes.

He pointed out that the sporting achievements achieved over the past years reflect the amount of work expended and thoughtful planning, stressing that sustainable work and combined efforts between various sports authorities in the country represent the basic foundation for continuing development and raising the level of sports in the UAE.

This came in the closing session of the Rashid bin Humaid Ramadan Council for the year 2026, which was devoted to discussing the reality of sports in the UAE, under the patronage and presence of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, and with the participation of experienced and specialized sports officials in the country, as well as media professionals.

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi spoke about the sport of football in the country, explaining that the first national team receives great attention within a comprehensive development vision, based on investing in human competencies and refining national talent, in addition to injecting new blood capable of strengthening the team’s journey and achieving the aspirations of the masses.

He pointed out that the plans drawn up are based on the belief in the importance of the talented human resource, and benefiting from the energies and competencies present in the country of various nationalities, in a way that contributes to supporting the sports work system and enhancing its competitiveness, stressing that there is great hope in the nation’s youth and its competencies to continue working and making efforts to raise the country’s banner and achieve more regional and international achievements.

He pointed out that the Professional League is witnessing remarkable development, both at the level of technical performance and the participating clubs, in addition to attracting professional players, stressing that the continuous work and increasing professionalism have contributed to raising the quality of competition and enhancing the presence of the league.

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi noted that private clubs made an important addition to the country’s sports system, especially in professional and administrative work, citing the United Club, which succeeded in combining professionalism in sports work and distinguished administrative performance, in addition to maintaining a balance in costs.

He pointed to the model adopted by private clubs, which was previously applied at the Ajman Club, which is based on achieving excellence and the best employment of competencies, while maintaining a balance in costs.

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi touched on the club’s progress in the past two seasons, and the current one, which witnessed the achievement of a series of successive victories that reflect the amount of work expended, stressing that ambitions always remain higher, and that the goal is to continue development and enhance the club’s competitive presence to be able to compete and achieve distinguished results in various competitions.

He stressed the importance of sports councils and the major role they play in supporting, developing and organizing sports work at the emirate level, in addition to their contribution to enhancing planning and coordination between various sports bodies. These councils have also proven their importance in developing the sports system, stressing that the issue of having a sports council in each emirate should take into account a number of considerations, including the size of the emirate, its sports needs and the nature of its activity, ensuring the adoption of the most appropriate model that achieves the best effectiveness and efficiency in managing and developing the sports sector.

He talked about his experience supervising beach soccer, noting that it achieved good results during the aforementioned period, as the team was able to advance to the World Cup finals, an achievement that reflects the amount of work expended in this game, and this experience contributed to highlighting distinctive elements of the players who presented good levels, which helped strengthen the country’s presence in this sport at the international level.

The participants in the session presented a number of proposals and ideas for developing sports in the country, stressing the presence of great opportunities and the remarkable and unlimited support from the wise leadership, to achieve leadership and reserve a distinguished position on the list of leading countries in various sports.
