المملكة: 25 sustainable sculptures crown the conclusion of “Tuwaiq Sculpture” in Riyadh


Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh, Sunday, seventh edition of Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Road“Al-Tahlia” received an unparalleled public turnout to follow the activities of the forum, which transformed the open site into a live interactive platform, connecting the public directly with art makers in a unique visual experience that enhances the presence of the arts in daily life.

Deep Sustainability

The live sculpture phase, which lasted for about a month, resulted in the completion of 25 creative sculptural works by an elite group of local and international artists. These works embodied the concepts of deep sustainability through total reliance on local stone and recycled metals to produce completed masterpieces.

The forum went beyond visual presentation to present an integrated community program that contributed to enriching the artistic knowledge of thousands of visitors and emerging talents. The activities included specialized dialogue sessions, training workshops, and daily guided tours that provided exceptional opportunities for learning and exposure to distinguished international expertise.

Conclusion of the exhibition activities

The accompanying exhibition concluded its activities by displaying the completed sculptures in one location, to later prepare for the final installation stage. These artistic masterpieces will be distributed in the most prominent public locations in the city of Riyadh, as part of a strategic plan to integrate contemporary arts into the urban fabric of the capital.

The seventh edition shined under the supervision of curators Lulwah Al-Hamoud, Sarah Staton, and Route Place Luxembourg, whose expertise combined spatial practice and visual culture. This supervisory vision directed creative people towards creative interaction with the material to anticipate the horizons of the artistic future and emulate the present.

The Tuwaiq Sculpture Forum represents a fundamental pillar within the “Riyadh Art” program, as one of the largest public art projects of the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh. This huge initiative aims to stimulate the creative economy and consolidate Riyadh’s position as a global capital of the arts, in line with the aspirations of Saudi Vision 2030.
