Trump denies Washington’s attempt to seize Iran’s nuclear stock
President Donald Trump said on Monday that he is “far away” from making a decision about sending US forces to Iran to secure the stockpile of highly enriched uranium there.
Trump told the New York Post when asked about alleged discussions between Israel and the United States regarding the possibility of deploying special forces in Iran to seize and secure these materials, “We have not made any decision on this matter. We are far from that.”
Trump said last month, without providing evidence, that Tehran had begun rebuilding the nuclear program that he claimed was “destroyed” by US strikes in June last year.
Iran denies seeking to possess a nuclear arsenal, and says its uranium enrichment activities are intended for civilian use only.
