Austria participates in the Visegrad Group meeting to combat illegal immigration and terrorism

Austria participated in the meeting of interior ministers of the Central European Community (Visegrad) countries.

The meeting discussed linking European database systems in the field of combating illegal immigration and terrorism, and working to implement procedures for establishing centers for the return and deportation of violators in countries outside the borders of Europe.

During the meeting of the interior ministers of the group that includes Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner presented a practical road map for implementing the plan to establish centers for deporting violators in partner countries outside the borders of the European Union.

He stressed the importance of cross-border dialogue and close communication between security authorities in different countries, especially in the field of combating terrorism and extremism, and announced that work is underway to implement asylum procedures and return centers in cooperating countries outside Europe.
