Abu Dhabi Customs warns of text messages impersonating themselves or shipping agencies and companies

The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has warned of fraudulent text messages being circulated via text messages and “iMessage” impersonating its identity or the identity of shipping agencies and companies, and calling on the public and customers not to interact with it, or open any attached links, as they are unreliable and may aim to obtain personal data or sensitive information.
The administration explained that these messages may include claims of the existence of a shipment or a request to update data, and sometimes use numbers or names that falsely suggest their connection to official bodies, with the aim of luring customers and seizing their data.
The administration stressed the need not to share any personal information with unknown parties, and to rely on its official channels to obtain services and information to avoid electronic fraud attempts.
Abu Dhabi Customs affirmed its commitment to applying the highest standards of cybersecurity and protecting customer data, in coordination with the competent authorities, to monitor and address fraud attempts, calling on the public to communicate through its official channels in the event of receiving any suspicious messages impersonating them, which contributes to enhancing community awareness and reducing electronic phishing attempts.
