Legend Rooney’s opinion on the youngest scorer in the history of the English Premier League

Former English international striker Wayne Rooney believes that it is necessary to deal patiently with the youngster Max Doman, who became the youngest scorer in the history of the Premier League on Saturday, in his team’s 2-0 victory over Everton, the leaders of Arsenal.
At the age of 16 years and 73 days, Doman became the youngest scorer by scoring the second goal for Arsenal, surpassing James Vaughan, who was 16 years and 270 days old when he scored for Everton against Crystal Palace on April 10, 2005.
Rooney knows better than anyone else what it means to put pressure on a player of this age, as he came to the fore five days before his seventeenth birthday when he scored for Everton in the same match in 2002.
Doman is preparing to take his General Certificate of Secondary Education exams later this year.
Rooney said in his special program on the BBC network, “For me, everything revolved around football at the expense of education. I do not know what his condition is. If the priority is education, I do not think we will see him much in the next two months.”
The former Everton and Manchester United star continued: “I am sure that (Arsenal’s Spanish coach) Mikel (Arteta) summoned his parents and family and spoke to them about what his education means to him. I imagine, especially now, that he will not be present as much (with the team) as he would like…”
He believed that he must “pass these exams, as there are many years ahead of him,” adding, “What an opportunity for him to be on the team. He may become a Premier League champion while still finishing his studies.”
Ronnie expressed his enthusiasm about Doman’s talent, saying, “He has an aura and self-confidence… It seems, from the matches I watched, that he does not allow pressure to affect him because he gets the ball and keeps it, forces the defenders to confront him and tries to elude them. Therefore, it certainly seems that he has a great deal of confidence.”
He added, “It is an important moment in his life and career, and it is undoubtedly an experience that I had when I was sixteen, and this moment will remain embedded in his memory for the rest of his life. Therefore, when we have a young man of sixteen stand out in this way, it is clear that he has a lot of talent, and all we hope is that he can achieve his full potential.”
He concluded, “Let him have fun and express himself.”
