Distance learning continues in public and private schools and universities

The Education, Human Development and Society Council announced three regulatory measures aimed at ensuring the continuity of the educational process in the country, and preserving the safety of students and the educational community, in coordination with the relevant authorities in the education system and government work.

In this context, the Ministry of Education announced the continuation of the distance learning system at the beginning of the third semester of the current academic year for a period of two weeks, for students and educational and administrative staff in all nurseries, kindergartens, and public and private schools nationwide.

The situation will be re-evaluated on a weekly basis, and any developments will be announced through the official channels approved in schools, in order to preserve the safety of students and educational staff.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research also announced that the distance learning system will continue to be implemented for students in all higher education institutions nationwide for a period of two weeks, after the end of spring break.

The situation will be re-evaluated weekly and any developments will be announced through the official channels approved for educational institutions, to ensure the safety of students and the academic community. Higher education institutions may also determine the most appropriate mechanism for resuming work for their academic and administrative staff, to ensure the achievement of learning outcomes and maintain the quality of the educational process.

Private educational institutions, including schools, nurseries, and higher education institutions, were also allowed to submit requests to return to in-person education when needed, taking into account the nature of their operational conditions and educational needs. These requests will be studied and evaluated, and the necessary measures will be taken in coordination with the competent authorities. Institutions will also be provided with additional details about the mechanisms and procedures for submitting applications by the Ministry and local educational authorities.

Within the framework of the Year of the Family, and in order to support the educational process in the country, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announced the availability of flexibility in working with a remote work system for employees working in ministries and federal agencies who are caregivers for children (father or mother) and who hold jobs in which conditions for remote work are met, in accordance with the approved regulations.

This procedure applies during the period of official authorities approving the distance learning system for students from kindergarten to eighth grade, as well as for children officially registered in nurseries, while adhering to the internal regulations and decisions in force in federal authorities, ensuring the continuity of efficient and effective work flow.

The Education, Human Development and Society Council confirmed that any developments will be announced through the approved official channels of the ministries, the Authority and educational institutions, indicating that these measures come within the framework of continuous coordination between the concerned authorities to ensure the continuity of the educational process, and to strengthen the support system for students and their families, in line with the state’s priorities in providing a flexible and safe educational environment that supports the sustainability of the quality of education at its various stages.
