Lebanon.. 6 killed in Israeli raids on central Beirut

The Lebanese Ministry of Health said that Israeli air strikes on Beirut killed at least six people today, and the strikes shook the heart of the capital as Israel intensified its attack on the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group.

The Israeli air strikes also targeted the southern suburb of Beirut, which is controlled by Hezbollah.

Most of the Israeli raids targeted the Beirut southern suburbs, but Israel also launched a number of attacks on areas in the center of the capital.

An air strike at approximately 1:30 a.m. local time (23:30 GMT) destroyed several floors of a residential building in the Zoqaq al-Blat neighborhood in Beirut, while a raid in the neighboring Basta neighborhood destroyed at least two floors of a building.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. local time (0330 GMT), the most violent raid destroyed an entire building in the Bachoura neighborhood – an area near central Beirut that Israel also targeted last week.
