The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment confirms the maximum readiness of the country’s ports and the smooth flow of food commodities in preparation for Eid al-Fitr.

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment revealed the completion of its readiness and the implementation of an integrated proactive plan to ensure the continuity and flow of food, agricultural and animal consignments through all ports of the country, in preparation for welcoming Eid al-Fitr and meeting the increasing needs of local markets.

The Ministry, in cooperation with all competent authorities in the emirates of the country, is working to provide all technical resources and human cadres to speed up the inspection and release procedures for various goods, including vegetables, fruits and fresh meat, to ensure the highest standards of food safety.

This came during a series of field inspection tours carried out by the Ministry’s work teams in cooperation with the relevant local authorities, and included all ports of import and export operations at the state level. The tours included inspecting the agricultural and veterinary quarantine centers in those ports, with the aim of examining the progress of work, and following up on the mechanisms of inspection and rapid customs release of food and agricultural consignments.

For his part, His Excellency Mohammed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, confirmed that the Ministry is working in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership to consolidate the elements of national food security, and is adopting a flexible and advanced operational system to ensure the availability of all basic commodities to consumers with ease.

He said: “Our border crossings extending across all the emirates of the country, each of which represents a strategic and commercial weight on the global trade map, operate with exceptional efficiency and maximum capacity within an integrated national system. This huge logistical network represents the first shield to protect our society by ensuring the safety and security of all incoming consignments. We manage the food value chain professionally, and the import movement and flow of goods proceeds completely smoothly through our various major ports to supply our markets with everything they need.”

He pointed out that 1,454 livestock consignments were received and dealt with through the country’s various ports, which included a total of 441,574 heads of various livestock, during the period from January 1 to March 18, 2026. The livestock included sheep, goats, cows, and camels.

He stressed that these huge inflowing quantities, in addition to the continued daily flow of thousands of tons of fresh vegetables and fruits, fully meet the needs of the local market, which reflects the strength and stability of the supply chains heading to the country’s markets.

For his part, His Excellency Marwan Al Zaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for Regions at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, said: “The past few days have witnessed a regular workflow in the movement of importing food commodities of various types to meet the requirements of Eid Al Fitr, as our vital centers receive daily huge and diverse consignments of vegetables, fruits, meat, and other foodstuffs. Our field teams in all ports are working around the clock to provide advanced and rapid services to all dealers and suppliers, in order to achieve the completion of inspection and release operations in the shortest possible time. And without any delay.”

Regarding quality and inspection standards, His Excellency Marwan Al Zaabi stressed that food safety is an important element in the food security system and ensuring the security of consignments and food shipments, stressing that increasing the volume of flows to meet Eid requirements does not mean laxity in control procedures.

He said: “Our border crossings implement very strict protocols to ensure that all goods and consignments are free of any contaminants or risks before they cross the country’s borders and reach consumers’ tables in complete safety.”

The control procedures followed in agricultural and veterinary quarantine centers at all ports of the country include careful tracking of the origin of consignments, comprehensive scrutiny of the attached health documents and certificates, as well as careful examination of live animals and agricultural crops.

Samples of shipments are also subjected to advanced laboratory tests to fully ensure that they meet the highest standard specifications approved in the country, with the strict implementation of the policy of immediate rejection of any shipment proven not to comply with the requirements, to ensure that the country’s markets remain completely protected and 100% safe.

His Excellency Marwan Al Zaabi pointed out that all the country’s land, sea and air ports in the various emirates operate in complete harmony and are linked to a flexible and unified operational system, managed by an operations room that ensures real-time coordination at the highest level with all strategic partners and relevant local authorities.

His Excellency added that this logistical integration between all our major ports allows the state to receive food, agricultural and animal consignments flowing from multiple, reliable global sources, which translates the ministry’s successful strategy in diversifying import markets, enhancing the state’s competitive position in import and export operations, and providing wide options that meet all the needs of society in preparation for Eid Al-Fitr and absolutely support market stability.

On the field logistics level, His Excellency explained that the Ministry is implementing innovative mechanisms that are primarily based on shortening internal supply chains and raising their efficiency to the maximum extent possible. These integrated mechanisms ensure speeding up inspection and release procedures for shipments upon their arrival at the ports, and reducing the time it takes for fresh goods and products to settle directly on the shelves of sales outlets and markets in record time. This effective operational approach guarantees the consumer access to food products that maintain the highest levels of quality and freshness, and reflects the efficiency and streamlined supply movement that distinguishes the food security system in the country and makes it capable of meeting any increase in demand with ease.

In response to the requirements of the blessed Eid al-Fitr season, the Ministry has strengthened its supervisory and operational system in agricultural and veterinary quarantine centers, by increasing the number of specialized cadres of veterinarians, agricultural engineers, and laboratory technicians, and activating rapid clearance paths, to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of safe food commodities, ensuring that the country’s markets remain full and stable to meet the aspirations of all members of society.
