المملكة: Foreign Minister: The Riyadh meeting discussed ways to restore regional security and stability
His Highness confirmed bin Abdullah , that the consultative meeting of foreign ministers is a group of The Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the press conference held after the meeting, expressed his strong condemnation of the sinful Iranian attacks on the Kingdom, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and a number of Arab, Islamic, and friendly countries, and condemned the Iranian side’s insistence on destabilizing the security and stability of the region, its blatant violation of international covenants and international law, and its threat to international peace and security.
Dangers of Continuing Escalatory Policies
The Minister of Foreign Affairs said: "We have repeatedly warned of the dangers of continuing escalatory policies in an effort to spare the region from further tension based on our awareness and keenness on all of us to prevail over wisdom through peaceful solutions, but Iran’s insistence on violating the principles of good neighborliness has led to the erosion of confidence in it regionally and internationally."In this regard, stressing the need to immediately stop Iranian attacks and reject Iranian attempts to evade responsibility for these attacks that targeted residential areas and civilian and vital facilities, and the resulting human losses and serious material damage to the national interests of Arab and Islamic countries.
He added: "Iran has planned in advance the sinful attacks we are witnessing today. This behavior is not the result of a coincidence, but rather an extension of a historical record based on an approach of blackmail and sponsoring and supporting militias to target neighboring countries and destabilize them."
His Highness explained that attacking neighbors constitutes a violation of covenants and covenants in contravention of the teachings of the true Islamic religion, and that financing and arming militias in Arab Islamic countries does not serve Islamic unity, but rather undermines it.
His Highness the Foreign Minister stressed the importance of Iran reviewing its miscalculations, as continuing to attack countries in the region will not achieve any gains for it, and will lead to adverse results that will exacerbate its suffering, cost it a high political price, and increase its isolation.
Unprecedented Solidarity
His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs renewed the countries participating in the meeting’s welcome of the international position, which is considered unprecedented solidarity regarding the current situation in the region, and was evident in the support of 136 member states of the United Nations for Security Council Resolution 2817, which called on Iran to immediately stop its attacks and refrain from any threats or provocative actions against neighboring countries.
His Highness said: "The countries participating in the meeting stressed the need to immediately implement the Security Council resolution, stop supporting proxies in the region, and Iran to abandon its hostile policies"
He explained that the meeting addressed the importance of protecting navigation and sea lanes, as we stressed the condemnation of the Iranian attacks on commercial ships in the Arabian Gulf, the disruption of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and the repercussions it caused on the security of the region and the global economy, stressing that compromising freedom of navigation constitutes a serious threat to international peace and security, and requires collective action to protect maritime security and ensure safe transit.
Damages of targeting energy sources
His Highness continued, saying: "The damage resulting from the targeting of energy sources and food security requirements in relation to fertilizers negatively affects the global economy, especially the economies of developing countries most in need."
At the conclusion of the press conference, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the continuation of intensive consultation and coordination among the countries of the region to ensure following developments, evaluating developments, crystallizing common positions, taking the necessary legitimate measures and procedures to protect the security and stability of countries, and serving as a starting point for broad regional and international action.
