The UAE raises its tally to 8 medals in Asian track cycling for people of determination

Manila, March 29 / WAM / The UAE Cycling Team for People of Determination continued its outstanding results in the Asian Track Championships currently being held in Tagaytay City, Philippines, by winning 4 new medals (two gold, one silver and one bronze) on the third day of competition, raising its total tally to 8 colored medals (3 gold, 3 silver and two bronze).

The new medals came from Abdullah Salem Al Balushi, who won two gold medals, the first in the “C4” 10 km “scratch” race, after a strong performance, outperforming Indonesian Muhammad Fadli Imamuddin, while Uzbekistan’s Abror Ibrahimov came third. Then Al Balushi returned to win the gold in the C4 speed race, ahead of Uzbekistan’s Abror Ibrahimov, who ranked second.

Al Balushi raised his tally to 3 gold medals in addition to a silver medal, continuing his strong presence among the most prominent stars of the tournament.

Salama Al Khatri also added two new medals, by winning a silver in the “Scratch” race in the C5 category, and a bronze in the individual speed race in the same category, raising her tally to 4 medals (two silver and two bronze).

Theban Salem Al Muhairi, Secretary General of the National Paralympic Committee, praised this achievement, stressing that the positive results come with the support of the wise leadership, and reflect the amount of continuous work and the high competitive spirit, pointing to the ability of the team’s players to compete with the elite champions of the continent, and to raise the country’s flag in continental forums.
