المملكة: The Foreign Minister and his Canadian counterpart discuss strengthening relations and condemn Iran’s attacks


His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah received Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh, today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs CanadaAnita Anand.

During the meeting, the positive and growing momentum witnessed in bilateral relations spanning more than 50 years, which are based on common interests in order to achieve Economic growth and its diversification, enhancing regional and international security, and laying the foundations for global peace.

The two sides noted the level of intra-regional trade, as the volume of trade exchange between the two countries in the year 2024 amounted to more than (12) billion Saudi riyals, and they welcomed the formation of the Saudi-Canadian Business Council and its efforts to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.

They also noted the progress made in the ongoing negotiations regarding the agreement to encourage and protect foreign investment between the two countries. The two countries. Strengthening and developing relations

They discussed ways to strengthen and develop relations in all fields, especially priority fields, including trade, investment, space, artificial intelligence, mining, tourism, education, and pharmaceutical industries.

They agreed on the importance of deepening bilateral relations and strengthening the comprehensive partnership between the two countries. The two sides also exchanged views on regional challenges, condemning Iran’s destabilizing behavior in the region, including Iranian attacks on the Kingdom and the Gulf states, which threaten regional and international security.

They called on Iran to immediately stop its aggressions, and respect international law, international humanitarian law, and the principles of good neighborliness.

They stressed the need for Iran to commit to implementing Security Council Resolution No. 2817 (2026), and to stop supporting, financing and arming its militias in Arab countries, which undermines the foundations of regional and international peace and security.

Strengthening maritime security

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada expressed her country’s solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and her appreciation for the assistance provided by the Kingdom to facilitate the return of their citizens, and reaffirmed its readiness to cooperate closely with the Kingdom to enhance regional stability and protect civilians in light of the ongoing conflict affecting the Gulf states and the East. The Middle East.

The two sides agreed on the need for concerted international efforts to reduce tensions, enhance maritime and energy security, and protect vital infrastructure.

The Canadian Foreign Minister expressed her appreciation and thanks for the warm reception and hospitality, stressing her country’s commitment to strengthening a fundamental, future-oriented partnership with the Kingdom.
