Louvre Abu Dhabi presents a group of interactive programs during April

Abu Dhabi, 31 March / WAM / The Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum is offering a group of family activities during the month of April inspired by the museum’s collection, which combines “family weekends” and “distinctive after-school activities” and focuses on creative learning based on the artistic masterpieces displayed in the museum.

The program was designed within the framework of establishing a culture of creativity and knowledge among families and students through guided tours in the exhibition halls and interactive workshops.

Activities include weekly thematic workshops based on artwork-based learning, with each weekend focusing on a specific topic.

The first workshop, titled “Family Portraits Inspired by Picasso,” will be held on April 4 and 5 to explore Pablo Picasso’s style of photographing family members and loved ones by using transparent papers to create multi-layered diagrams and transforming them into expressive family paintings.

The “Make a Coin from Aluminum Foil” workshop will also be held on April 11 and 12, where participants will design commemorative coins inspired by the museum’s coin collection while exploring the concepts of value, exchange, and memory through examples from different civilizations.

The weekend workshops will conclude with the “Design your own travel notebook or postcard” workshop on April 18 and 19, which is inspired by the works of Paul Klee and invites participants to express their travel and journey experiences by designing postcards and diaries using colors and decorations and writing letters to loved ones.

From the beginning of April until the end of June 2026, the museum organizes an “after-school activities” program every Tuesday for students of various educational levels to learn about the museum’s collection through various topics that include the UAE’s heritage, Islamic art, geometric patterns, emotions, and the depiction of animals in art.

Sessions begin in the exhibition halls, followed by drawing activities accompanied by museum guides using customized booklets as part of the “Let’s Draw” activity, which encourages observation, self-expression, and attention to detail.

The artworks being explored include a work titled “Diffusion” by artist Giuseppe Penone along with various historical art pieces.

The museum also organizes a “Search and Discover” session every Wednesday, to learn about material heritage and its preservation processes, and to explore how natural and industrial materials are used to create works of art, through interactive tours and solving puzzles inside the exhibition halls.

The programs also include special drawing sessions every Wednesday, designed to develop the arts skills of third-year students, and focus on drawing inspired by nature and visual documentation, where students view selected works of art, such as the painting “A Young Prince While Studying” by artist Othman Hamdi Bey, before participating in practical applications inside the exhibition halls.

Workshops inspired by the works of Pablo Picasso are also organized every Thursday, as part of an educational track at the “Picasso, Visualizing the Figure” exhibition, during which students learn about selected works such as “Woman with Mandolin” and “Paloma,” and the session concludes with interactive activities that enhance creative understanding of the art of photographing people.

Louvre Abu Dhabi invited families and students to enjoy these various programs, and urged parents to participate in the free daily guided tours, which continue until April 30.
