المملكة: 3 accredited marine programs to qualify for driving tanks and boats, with up to 300 training hours


The General Transport Authority announced the adoption of a package of specific training programs, with the aim of qualifying beneficiaries to drive marine tanks and boats of various sizes, thus contributing to raising Safety level and enhancing navigation efficiency within the Kingdom’s territorial waters.

The Authority confirmed that these programs come within the framework of its ongoing efforts to develop The maritime transport sector, and raising the readiness of national cadres through specialized training programs that keep pace with international standards, and contribute to reducing maritime accidents and enhancing compliance with applicable regulations and instructions.

Training axes

The training programs include a set of basic axes that aim to build the trainees’ capabilities, including applying maritime safety requirements and learning about Navigation basics, in addition to developing crowd management skills in marine environments, ensuring effective handling of various circumstances.

The programs focus on the practical aspect, as they allow beneficiaries to directly acquire the skills of driving naval units, in addition to familiarity with relevant local maritime laws and regulations, which enhances operating efficiency and raises the level of regulatory compliance.

Naval Tanks and Boats Program

According to what the Authority announced, the programs include specialized training in naval tank driving for a period of up to 240 training hours, distributed over four days, while the program for boats less than 12 meters in length extends to 300 training hours over five days.

As for boats whose length ranges between 12 and 24 meters, a 60-hour training program is allocated for them, extending over ten days, taking into account the technical and operational differences between the different types of marine units.

The Authority stressed that all approved programs include basic safety courses, As a major pillar in qualifying maritime cadres and ensuring their ability to deal with emergency situations with high efficiency.

The adoption of these programs comes in the context of the General Authority for Transport’s directives towards developing the maritime transport system and raising the level of professionalism among practitioners, in a way that supports achieving the highest standards of safety and quality in the sector.
