The Asian-African Parliamentary Council condemns the Iranian attacks on the Gulf states and Jordan

The Asian-African Parliamentary Council expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the sinful Iranian attacks aimed at destabilizing the security and stability of the region, especially the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Saud Al-Hujailan, First Deputy of the Council, stressed in a statement that the repeated practices and provocations witnessed in the vital sea lanes, especially the Strait of Hormuz, are a clear violation of international laws and norms, and a direct threat to the security of international navigation and global energy supplies, which requires urgent international action to stop these violations and ensure the freedom and security of navigation.

He stressed that these attacks represent a blatant violation of the sovereignty of states and a dangerous escalation that requires a firm international stance that puts an end to these practices and prevents their recurrence.

Al-Hujailan explained that the Asian-African Parliamentary Council calls on the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is being hosted by the Turkish city of Istanbul from April 15 to 19, to assume its responsibilities, take a clear and frank position, and work in coordination with the member parliaments to pressure Iran to stop all violations and transgressions against the sovereignty of the Gulf and Arab countries, as well as to stop the bombing and escalation immediately.

He pointed out that the Council delegation participating in the Assembly’s work, headed by him, will initiate intensive diplomatic and parliamentary efforts to coordinate international positions and enhance efforts aimed at protecting security and stability and confronting all forms of threat targeting countries in the region.
