326.9 thousand beneficiaries of the Red Crescent sponsorship program over 40 years

The number of orphans who have benefited from the Emirates Red Crescent Authority’s sponsorship program since its inception 40 years ago has reached 326,971 orphans in dozens of countries around the world, and currently the Authority sponsors 122,576 orphans within the Emirates and in 22 countries.
In 1986, the process of sponsoring orphans was launched, which distinguishes the Emirates Red Crescent from other Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. The program found a great response from the sponsors, benefactors, and philanthropists provided by the state, and every year the umbrella of the program’s beneficiaries expands and it gains a local, regional, and international dimension thanks to the interest it receives from the senior leadership of the Red Crescent.
This came in a report issued by the Authority on the occasion of World Orphan Day, which falls in April every year.
The report indicated that the Authority has remained one of the legitimate gates of goodness in this generous nation, as it is one of the fruits of the good planting of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” which has flourished and flourished and benefited far and near, without discrimination or bias towards gender, race, or religion, and on the same foundations and values the UAE is moving under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him.”
The report explained that the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority, and His Highness’s diligent follow-up of the orphan sponsorship program, contributed to achieving leadership and excellence for the Red Crescent in this regard, alongside a group of good people from the country and residents who always rush to do good deeds in one of the most wonderful images of social solidarity that characterize the Emirati people.
Regarding this topic, His Excellency Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the Red Crescent Authority, said that the Authority works to provide the needs of orphans in the areas of health, education, social, and other services that support orphans and their families to face life’s circumstances and requirements, thanks to the good planning and effective mechanisms that the Authority has in the project of marketing orphans to sponsors and attracting their support and assistance to the orphans and their families.
Al Mazrouei added: Thanks to God and His help, the Authority was able to move society in its various sectors towards orphans and their humanitarian conditions, and draw attention to their necessary requirements. The Authority was and will remain a bridge of humanitarian communication between orphans and sponsors, and through it many humanitarian gains have been achieved for the benefit of this group that is dear to all of our hearts. The Authority’s strategy depends on expanding the base of participation in implementing its programs and charitable projects to alleviate their suffering and convey its message to everyone.
He stressed that the Authority will spare no effort in achieving its goals and will continue its programs for a better future and a decent life for orphans and their families.
It is noteworthy that the Red Crescent Authority adopts a distinguished method in mobilizing support for orphans and attracting support and support for them, by offering sponsorship forms for the number of orphans for whom the Authority wishes to find sponsors.
