The UAE is leading the future of medical care with innovative technologies and global achievements

The UAE celebrates World Health Day, which falls on April 7 of each year. This year, the World Health Organization launches a campaign entitled “Together for Health… Support Science” to urge governments and the health community around the world to support science to protect life and human health, and ensure a healthier future for all.
The slogan of the occasion this year is in line with the vision of the UAE and its efforts aimed at harnessing the latest technical means, the outputs of artificial intelligence and other scientific research tools, to enhance an advanced, integrated health system available to all, that focuses on improving the quality of life of individuals, supports healthy lifestyles, and enjoys the highest levels of readiness for the future.
In this context, the UAE has recently witnessed the launch of several projects, including the project launched by the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center, Yas Hospital, and New York University Abu Dhabi, to use artificial intelligence techniques in magnetic resonance imaging to diagnose multiple sclerosis, while M42 Company announced plans to establish the first heavy ion treatment facility in the Middle East within Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, to provide one of the most precise types of radiation therapy for oncology patients.
The UAE continues to enhance innovation by expanding its network of global partnerships, as the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi and the World Economic Forum announced the signing of the next phase of their partnership concerned with developing smart health systems and long healthy lives, which consolidates Abu Dhabi’s global leadership position in preventive and personal health.
In turn, Dubai Health signed, last February, a cooperation agreement with Johnson & Johnson MedTech, which specializes in medical device technology and advanced surgical solutions, aiming to support professional education and digital innovation in health care, and enhance sustainability efforts.
In the field of medical research, a research team at Dubai Health published a scientific study in the international medical journal Nature Communications, through which it revealed innovative techniques for discovering and diagnosing rare diseases using genetic medicine, while the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences published the first comprehensive Arab genomic reference in the journal Nature Communications, in an unprecedented scientific achievement in the region.
The UAE announced the results of the National Health and Nutrition Survey 2024-2025, which provides a comprehensive picture of the health of the population and supports health planning and future preventive care based on evidence-based foundations. The survey included monitoring health and nutrition indicators, including healthy behaviors, nutritional patterns, maternal and child health, and monitoring non-communicable diseases.
The UAE continues to achieve advanced results in global indicators in the health field, as it topped the list of the best Arab countries in health care for the year 2025, and ranked 17th globally, according to the 2025 edition of the health care index of the American magazine (CEOWORLD).
The UAE ranked first in the world in health awareness programmes, community participation in health policies, and improving the quality of life, according to the “Health Inclusion Index” launched by “Halion”, in cooperation with “The Economist Impact”.
Annually, the UAE hosts a number of medical and health conferences and exhibitions with the participation of tens of thousands of specialists and highly qualified people, such as the Emirates International Dental Conference, the Arab Dental Exhibition, the WHX Labs Exhibition and Conference, formerly known as Medlab Middle East, the World Health Exhibition, and the Abu Dhabi Integrated Mental Health Conference.
The “Hayat” organ donation program embodies the UAE’s leading government trends to enhance the health of community members and provide advanced treatment solutions that meet patients’ needs in accordance with the highest regulatory standards. The number of organ transplant operations within the program from 2017 until March 2026 reached about 1,195 various operations.
The UAE has succeeded in transforming its health system into an advanced global model in investing in advanced technology to carry out rare surgical operations and apply innovative treatments for serious diseases.
