Dubai Police warns of the danger of standing in the middle of the road

The Dubai Police General Command has warned of the dangers of parking in the middle of the road as a result of a vehicle malfunction, running out of fuel, or a breakdown in the vehicle’s tires, noting that the driver must ensure the safety of the vehicle’s parts before leaving the house or driving it, noting that the value of a parking violation in the middle of the road is 1,000 dirhams and 6 traffic points, and the application of Article (98), which is obstructing traffic, which is worth 500 dirhams.
This came after a collision occurred between three vehicles on Al Khail Road towards Abu Dhabi, as a result of the driver of one of the vehicles stopping suddenly in the middle of the road to pick up a license plate, in addition to the negligence and lack of attention on the part of the drivers of one of the vehicles coming from behind, which ran over him and collided with the vehicle and another vehicle. The accident resulted in the person who was run over being seriously injured, and two other people sustained moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Experts from the inspection department from the Traffic Accident Department moved to the accident site to inspect and collect accurate evidence, while traffic patrols organized traffic and movement, secured the accident site, and facilitated the arrival of rescue vehicles to carry out their tasks and take the necessary measures.
Director of the General Traffic Department, Brigadier General Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, said that parking in the middle of the road is one of the most serious violations that result in serious accidents, resulting in deaths and serious injuries, noting the necessity of contacting the police in the event that the vehicle breaks down and it is impossible to remove it, so that the necessary measures are taken, such as securing the broken down vehicles with police patrols, and taking the measures followed in these cases to protect passengers and road users.
He added that if the vehicle is exposed to a technical malfunction or a traffic accident and the driver is unable to move it off the road, he must take preventive measures to avoid accidents, which include using warning signals, securing the driver himself and those with him in the first place, then placing the warning triangle behind the vehicle at a sufficient distance if possible to alert drivers coming from behind, in addition to abandoning the vehicle completely and heading off the road, then contacting the police.
